Brecht, Doug, 62, passed away Friday, October 12th, 2012 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  He was born August 6th, 1950 in El Dorado, Kansas to Edwin and Darlene (Love) Brecht.  Doug met Stephanie Lowe while she was on tour with the LPGA in 1993 and was united in marriage on November 15, 1999 in Norman, Oklahoma. 

Doug started his college education at the University of Oklahoma in the School of  Engineering and then received his degree in Math Education.  He was an LPGA Rules Official for 19 years.  He was also a past President of the South Central Secton of PGA and a member of the PGA of America Rules Committee. Doug also enjoyed snow skiing, fishing, and spending time with Stephanie and the dogs.  He was an avid Cubs fan attending many games at Wrigley Field. 

Doug is survived by his wife, Stephanie Brecht of the home; brothers, Chuck Brecht and wife Alene of Garland, TX and Jack Brecht and wife Shari of Edmond; sisters, Kay Dunaway and husband John of Edmond and Kim Morrison and husband Mike of Rowlett, TX; a host of nieces, nephews, family, friends and his golf family; and his black labs, Wrigley and Pepper, and his daschund, Squirt.  

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Stephanie and her family would like to thank everyone for their donations, cards and messages at this sad time.  Memorials may be made to the Doug Brecht Benefit Fund at any BancFirst and all proceeds will go to Operation School Bell.  The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 17, 2012 at Havenbrook Funeral Home. 

Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 18, 2012 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 235 W. Duffy, Norman. 

Arrangements for Doug and his family have been placed in the care of the Vice Family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
