Lloyd Ray Hickey age 67 of Little Axe, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born January 24, 1948 in Oklahoma City, OK. Lloyd grew up in the Oklahoma City and in the Norman area. At the age of 17, he enlisted into the U. S. Navy an served two years before reenlisted into the U. S. Marine Corp. He served another 2 ½ years in the Marines before being honorably discharged in 1969. Lloyd proudly served 3 ½ tours of duty overseas during the Vietnam War and was the recipient of the Purple Heart and a Silver Star. After returning home to Oklahoma he married the love of his life, Jean Idell. They were married in Norman in 1969 and together raised two children, Bryan and Laura. Lloyd and Jean have lived on a small farm near Little Axe for the past 46 years. He worked at Tinker Air Force Base for many years before medically retiring in 1985. Lloyd loved living in the country and raising all kinds of farm animals. For many years his favorite hobby was raising, training and watching his coon dogs hunt. While his son was growing up, he coached him and his baseball team from the early years of little league all the way to junior high school. Another hobby Lloyd had was auctioneering. He enjoyed going to auctions and flea markets around the area and making new friends. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.

He is survived by: Wife, Jean Hickey of the home; Son, Bryan Hickey and wife Stephanie of Moore; Daughter, Laura Verser and husband Dan of Little Axe; Four grandchildren, Curtis Smith and wife Jaclyn of Wheatland, Kelsie Smith of Little Axe, Colton and Kilee Hickey of Moore; Mother-in-law, Dee Idell of Norman; Also several in-laws, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Graveside funeral services will be 10:00 am Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015 at Denver Cemetery east of Norman. Arrangements are with Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
