Robert Wayne Edge

Robert Wayne Edge
March 18, 1948 - December 11, 2012

Robert Wayne Edge was born on March 18, 1948, the second of two children to Wayne Hickman and Jewel Irene Bigbie Edge in Edmond, OK. He has an older sister, Carmelita Edge Turner.

Robert attended Edmond Public Schools and graduated in 1966. His childhood was spent riding his bike over many of the dirt roads in Edmond.

He served in the United States Air Force between 1967 and 1973. He was stationed near Sacramento, CA, Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City, OK, and did three tours of duty in Thailand. When he returned from the service, he attended Spartan Aeronautics School in Tulsa, OK, where he learned the sheet metal trade.

On August 10, 1975, he married Donna Gay Minns at The First Baptist Church in Keyes, OK. Donna and Robert had two children—Sara Michelle who was born in 1981 and David Wayne who was born in 1984. Robert loved his family and worked at a physically-taxing job so that he could provide for them. He had a dry sense of humor and his kids knew the final word was “It’s a state law.”

He worked at the Downtown Airpark for several years. When the General Motors Plant came to Oklahoma City, he got a job there where he worked for 26 years. He had spent the last few years being a help to Donna and working wheat or maize harvest with David in the Panhandle.

He passed from this life on December 11th in his home near Tuttle, OK, so that he might enter his new life in heaven with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his wife, Donna, his daughter, Sara, his son, David, his parents, Jewel and Wayne Edge, and his sister Carmelita. He is also survived by his grandchildren, GabbiElla Nadine and Rylin Wayne Edge, son-in-law, Aaron Gleason, daughter-in-law, Ashley Northcutt Edge, brother-in-law, Al Turner, and a host of other relatives and friends.

His grandson, Matthew Edge, and his daughter-in-law, Laura Rutledge Edge preceded him in death.

Memorials may be made to Blanchard Education Foundation, PO Box 1994, Blanchard, OK 73010 or Cal Farley’s Boys Ranch, PO Box 1890, Amarillo, Texas 79174-0001 (on-line at www.calfarley.org).

Funeral will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Bridge Creek.

Interment will be in Willobar Cemetery near Keyes, Oklahoma.

Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
