Funeral services for Murl Stanfield will be held on Saturday, June11, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel, with Sheila Walker-Carroll officiating and burial following in the Sawyer Cemetery in Sawyer, OK.

Murl died Sunday, June 5, 2011, in Tool, TX, at the age of 43. Wilburn Murl Stanfield Jr. was born September 5, 1967, in Hugo, Oklahoma, the son of Wilburn Murl Stanfield and Gwenda (Russey) Tilman. He had lived in the Hugo and Sawyer area most of his life and had attended both Hugo and Ft. Towson schools. Murl worked as a welder and traveled to different job sites around the country. He had a special place in his heart for kids, family, and dogs.

He was preceded in death by his son, Zachary Leonard Stanfield.

Murl is survived by one daughter, Erin Shufeldt and husband Michael of Durant, OK; his father, Wilburn Stanfield of Mannford, OK; his mother Gwen Tilman and step-father J.D. Tilman of Mannford, OK; sister, Renee Kerner and husband Ed, two brothers, Rickie Stanfield and Shane Stanfield; Erin’s mother, Cheryl Stanfield of Hugo, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 10, 2011, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel.
