Funeral services for Melvin Loyd Haworth, fondly known as “Mel”, will be held on Monday, April 11, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church of Hugo with Pastor Bergie Thompson officiating and a private burial following in the Restland Cemetery. Melvin passed away Friday, April 8, 2016, in Paris, Texas, at the age of 88.

Melvin Loyd Haworth was born April 3, 1928, in Yukon, Oklahoma, to Arvon and Sally (Mogg) Haworth. He married Joan Hall on March 23, 1974, and was a member of the Unity Baptist Church. Mel served his country in the United States Army. Mel had lived in this area for the past 20 years, after moving here from Oklahoma City, OK. He was a Masonic 32nd Degree Mason. He enjoyed golfing, camping and especially watching OU and the Dallas Cowboys. He was preceded in death by parents; brother, Arvon Haworth, Jr.

Melvin is survived by wife, Joan Haworth of the home; sons, Richard Haworth and wife, Kay, of Lubbock, TX and Mark Haworth and wife, Carol, of Edmond, OK; sister, Shirley Lette and husband, Charlie, of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Kyle, Kevin, Kellie, Penny and Shane; great-grandchild, Ian.

The family will receive friends Sunday, April 10, 2016, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel in Hugo, OK.
