Graveside services for Tura Duke will be held on Monday, September 19, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. at Restland Cemetery with Rev. Dean Young officiating and burial following in the Restland Cemetery.

Tura passed away Saturday, September 17, 2011, in Paris, Texas, at the age of 95. Tura Lou Duke was born March 14, 1916, in Rotan, Texas, the daughter of Willie Samuel and Ruth (Bryan) Etheredge. She was raised in Texas and married Evertt O. Duke in Snyder, TX in 1946. They made their home in this area where she worked as a school teacher; she also packed parachutes during World War II. She was a farmer, a painter, a good cook, and of the Baptist faith. Her family will remember her as a loving wife, wonderful mother, and caring grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Evertt Duke in 1999; nine brothers; two sisters.

Tura is survived by one son, Redge Duke and wife Mary of Boswell, OK; two daughters, Lou Nan Henry and husband Jim of Grand Prairie, TX, Patsy Todd and husband Dean of Boswell, OK; special son-in-law, Tommy Phillips of Mead, OK; special daughter-in-law, Linda Duke of McAlester, OK; one sister, Fae Rinker of Snyder, TX; two sisters-in-law, Jessie Etheredge of Snyder, TX, Jo Etheredge of Ft. Worth, TX; six grandchildren, Mike Duke, Jenny Ellis, Sarah Oldenburg, Jason Phillips, Brant Phillips, Melanie Jones; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-gradchildren; many nieces and nephews; extended family and friends; plus a host of students whose lives she touched in 25 years of teaching.
