OBITUARIES FOR CHARLES HUSE (CHARLEY) HALE, M.D.
APRIL 16, 1874 - APRIL 25, 1944
Submitted by: Jo Holsinger

County's Oldest Medical Doctor Dies on Tuesday -
Dr. Hale Had Been in County for 32 Years
Funeral services for Dr. Charles Huse Hale, Choctaw county's oldest resident medical doctor in point of service, will be conducted at 3 o'clock this afternoon at the Boswell Methodist church. Interment in Boswell cemetery will be in charge of Coffey Funeral home.
Dr. Hale died at his office Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock of a heart attack.
Dr. Hale had practiced in Boswell for the last 32 years. In recent years he had hoped to relax from his duties but shortage of doctors and desire of many of his patients that he attend them made retirement practically impossible. 'I was there when they were born and when their children and grandchildren were born,' he told a professional friend, 'and I just can't turn my back on them when they need me now.'
Dr. Hale was born in Union Parish, La., on April 16, 1874. He came to Boswell from Texas and had lived there since with the exception of a few months spent in Wagoner. He returned shortly, declaring, friends say, that he thought he would be happier in Boswell than anywhere else in the world.
Since he was 21 years old he had been a member of the Methodist church, which, with his profession and family, shared his interests.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Belle G. Hale, one son, Hugh Hale, of Boswell, and two daughters, Mrs. J. A. Still, of Texarkana, and Mrs. O. L. Watson Jr., of Levelland, Tex. Five brothers and three sisters also survive him.
Pallbearers will be as follows: active - Harry Craig, J. W. Jones, C. __. Maupin, G. C. Greenwood, Henry Duncan, and Bayless Irby; honorary - J. R. Bryant, G. W. Brinkley, O. L. Watson, Perry Greene, G. D. Duncan and R. L. Lowdermilk.
