Virginia Catherine (Taylor) Tucker

Funeral services for Catherine Tucker will be held on Friday, July 20, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Hugo, OK with Rev. Doug McClure officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo, OK.

Catherine went home to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ on Sunday, July 15, 2012, in Hugo, OK at the age of 76. Virginia Catherine Tucker was born on May 18, 1936 in Hugo, OK the daughter of Donald and Bessie (Mannon) Taylor. She grew up in Grant, OK and graduated from Grant High School in 1954 and attended nursing school. She married Alfred Durwood Tucker on December 27, 1956 in New Boston, TX. Catherine and A.D. moved to Houston, TX for a short time before moving back to Hugo, OK. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hugo, OK. In addition to working at Choctaw Memorial Hospital, she worked for over 25 years for local physicians including, Dr. Wolfe, Dr. La Croix, Dr. Woodruff, Dr. Gramaud, Dr. White and Dr. Young. After retirement she opened a day care for many children and she was known to them all as “Mama Cack”¯. Catherine traveled with A.D. throughout the country including Hawaii, Florida, Missouri and Colorado. She also loved flowers, music, and photography. Her favorite hobby was collecting dolls.

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, A. D. Tucker; her parents; brothers, Deward Taylor and Arnold Taylor.

Catherine is survived by two daughters, Lisa Rife and husband, Mark and Becky Green and husband, Don all of Hugo, OK; grandchildren, Ashlynn Catherine Rife, Derek Rife, Micah Green and Luke Green; sisters, Lorene Linn of Hugo, OK, Jane Woodruff and husband, Joe of Sawyer, OK and Nettie Hale of Martin, TN; brothers, Marion Taylor and wife, Robbie of Dallas, TX and Jerry Taylor and wife, Wendy of Greenville, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The family will receive friends Thursday, July 19, 2012, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Hugo, OK.
