Graveside services for Coy Lee Tate will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Lewis Hickenbottom officiating. Coy passed away Thursday, April 21, 2016, in Talihina, Oklahoma, at the age of 94.

Coy Lee Tate was born April 13, 1922, in Hugo, Oklahoma to Richard Jackson and Lillie Mae (Earwood) Tate. He was preceded in death by parents; wife, Lorene Tate; sisters and brother-in-laws, Dorothy and Dub Harkey and Pearline and Chester Merritt, Myrtle and Wasco Berzansky; and brother-in-law, Wesley Merritt.

Coy lived in this area since 1984, and married his wife of fifty years on June 6, 1942, in Hugo, OK. He served his country by serving in the United States Army during WWII from March 29, 1944, until November 26, 1945. Coy was in Company F, 423rd Infantry Regiment, 106th Infantry Division. He served in the Battle Of The Budge and was a POW from December 16, 1944 until April 13, 1945. Coy enjoyed gardening, especially growing tomatoes.

Coy is survived by daughter, Debbie Madrid and husband, Paul of Hugo, OK; son, Ron, Tate and wife, Jodie, of New Braunfels, TX; sister, Jean Merritt of Olympia, WA; grandchildren, Brandon Tate and wife, Tracy, Joey Tate, Parish Moffitt and wife, Jacqueline, and Sunshine Gordon and husband, Brad; great-grandchildren, Shelby, Kyndel, Mason, Thomas, Steffany and Sarah; many nieces and nephews and special family friend, Zen Gee.
