Funeral services for Charles Wallace Sims will be held on Friday, December 10, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bill Leveridge officiating and burial following in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Charles passed away Tuesday, December 7, 2010, in Ardmore, Oklahoma, at the age of 86. Charles Wallace Sims was born August 18, 1924, in Hugo, Oklahoma, the son of Charlie W. and Jewel (Akins) Sims. He had lived in this area all of his life until moving to Sulphur, Oklahoma to be near family in 2008. Charles served his country in the United States Army during WWII. Charles owned and operated Sims Radio and TV Shop in Hugo for many years working as a television technician. He also served as Mayor, City Councilman and did community service for thirty years in Hugo, OK. He was a member of the William-Anderson Methodist Church, VFW, American Legion and DAV. Charles loved serving in the community and loved to repair and work on things.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of 37 years, Ann Baker Sims in 1984; his second wife of 15½ years, Ellen Hammons Sims in 2001; an infant son; brothers: J.Q. Sims, Archie Sims and Verle G. Sims; sisters: Maudie Arnold, Lula Foster, Connie Tyler; and son-in law: Richard Lumbert.

Charles is survived by three daughters: Cynthia Ann Goodrich and husband Jack of Hugo, OK, Gloria Jean Redwine and husband Jim of McKinney, TX, Shelley Yvette Haines and husband John of Sulphur, OK; one son: Charles Wayne Sims and wife Carolyn of Mustang, OK; one sister-in-law, Valerie Sims of Chicota, TX; sister, Barbara Arnold and husband Luther of Chicota, TX; twin sisters, Bonnie Johnson of Chicota, TX and Donnie Fuggett and husband Vernon of Powderly, TX; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday, December 9, 2010, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Chapel in Hugo, OK.
