Funeral services for Mary Newman Norris will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel with Hospice Chaplin Jessie West officiating and burial following in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo, OK. Mary passed away at her home Sunday, March 23, 2014, surrounded by loving family members.

Mary was born a twin on May 13, 1930 in Hugo, OK, the daughter of Othel Elmer and Cecila Felista (Graf) Newman. Mary has been a member of Clayton Ave. Baptist Church most of her life where she had taught Sunday school and VBS classes. Mary had worked at Acme Printing and the Hugo tag office for several years. But most of her life had been spent devotedly taking care of her family. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, James Harold Norris; her son, James Harold Norris, Jr; her parents, Othel and Cecilia Newman; two brothers, Coy Newman and Donald Newman; two sisters, Donna Eileen Newman Guthrie, and Geraldine Newman.

She is survived by one daughter, Mary Jim Trapp and husband Delbert of Hugo; John Franklin Norris and wife, Rhonda of Coweta, Oklahoma; twin brother: Charles “Buddy” Newman of Sherman, TX; sister: Jean LaFollette of Frisco, TX; four grandchildren: Tracy Kidwell and husband, Josh, of Edmond, Oklahoma; Chad Trapp and wife, Donna, of Hugo; Jarod Norris of Scottsdale, Arizona; James Harold Norris III and wife, Charlotte, of Wentworth Village, TX; eight grandchildren: Emily Kidwell, Katie Trapp, Ian Kidwell, Allison Kidwell, Avery Kidwell, Samantha Trapp, Erin Kidwell, and Lucy Norris; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel. Family and friends are invited to sign the guest book or send private condolences to the family at www.praterlampton.com.
