Graveside services for Edrie Erlene Fry Hacker will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in the Darrough Pavilion with Pastor Dick McClure officiating. Edrie passed away Saturday, September 26, 2015 in Hugo, OK, at the age of 105.

Edrie Erlene Fry Hacker was born February 15, 1910 in Boswell, Oklahoma, to Rufus Martin and Rouie Eveline (Fleming). Edrie had lived in this area most all her life, moving from Boswell to Hugo in 1920. Edrie married the love of her live W.C. Hacker on September 14, 1935 in Hugo, OK. She moved from Hugo to Lewisville, TX in November 2000, then moved to Jacksonville, TX in May 2002 (after her daughter, Jan Hacker Goss, passed away). She became a member of Central Baptist Church while living in Jacksonville, then moved back to Hugo in November 2014 (after her daughter, Ann Hacker Shoffner, passed away). Edrie attended Hugo First Baptist Church when she returned. Edrie was loved by all who knew her but those ones near and dear to her heart call her Grandma.

Grandma was beautiful inside and out with a heart of gold and an aura about her that was magical. She had an innate gift to touch everyone who spent any time with her. Despite personal tragedy, Grandma held her head high and moved forward with a positive outlook on life. Grandma was very devoted to her family and her faith. She was a nurturer at heart, always making sure everyone in the room was well fed and having a good time. Grandma absolutely loved to play cards (e.g., Bridge, Tripoli, Rummy, SkipBo). Count your pennies, she could fool you with her skill at bridge. Grandma also had a passion for reading and a huge curiosity for learning. She could hold her own in any conversation about politics, history, current events and even the most trivial pop culture topics. She was more current than the "average Joe." She also was known to crack a joke or two which kept you laughing. With an uncanny wit, Grandma could definitely keep up with the young adults in the room.

Grandma traveled extensively across the US, Mexico and Europe and could entertain you for hours with her stories. All the family grew up with Grandma's cooking - possibly her true secret to longevity - delicious home-made food. Grandma's famous tradition of "Cherry Cream Pie" for Thanksgiving and Christmas was such a hit that many family members preferred a birthday "Cherry Cream Pie" rather than a traditional birthday cake. All her family and friends are very grateful to have had her in their lives for this long. Heaven became a little more beautiful on September 26, 2015.
