Freda (Rountree) Fry

Funeral services for Freda Fry will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery with Brother Oscar Wilkie officiating and burial following in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Freda passed away Saturday, November 20, 2010, in Sherman, Texas, at the age of 98. Freda Fry was born September 23, 1912, in Fairley, Texas, the daughter of Sam J. and Annie E. (Brown) Rountree. She attended Hugo schools and Southeastern State College. She taught school prior to marrying her husband, Jarvis Fry in Antlers, OK in the 30's. Freda had been active in the Hugo Public Library. She was a member of the First Methodist Church and the Pierian Club. She was a talented artist and loved to paint nature scenes.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jarvis Fry; three brothers, Wendell, Bill, and Jack Rountree, two sisters-in-law, Nell Rountree, Bedina Rountree.

Freda is survived by two sons, Phillip L. Fry of Austin, TX, Franklin Fry and wife Judy of Sherman, TX; one grandaughter, Amy Still and husband Jonathan of Nacogdoches, TX; one grandson, Todd Fry and wife Erin of Katy, TX; two great-grandchildren, Duncan and Bennett Fry of Katy, TX; three sisters-in-law, Alice Rountree and Frances Fry of Hugo, OK, Edrie Hacker of Jacksonville, TX; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
