Funeral services for Opal Pearl Frost will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church of Hugo, OK with Pastor Dick McClure officiating and burial following in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Opal Frost, a longtime resident of Hugo, OK, surrendered her precious life to the Lord on Saturday, June 11, 2016, in Hugo, OK, at the age of 89. Opal Pearl Curtis was born in Grant, OK on January 26, 1927. She married T.J. Frost on August 23, 1947. Together, they became business owners, and Frost Grocery became a well known fixture in Hugo for over 39 years. Customers came from miles around for T.J.'s homemade sausage and Opal's special attention to the arrival of new babies, the beginning of new marriages, and the special sense of community she created in that little grocery store on Dalton and K Street. Opal was a member of the Southside Baptist Church. She was a devout Christian and loved when her grandchildren attended church with her. Opal cherished the moments her family came together and hosted every holiday and celebration in her home. She enjoyed cooking, baking, and spending time with each of her family members on their visits to Granny's house. Opal was known as a loving, generous, and dependable woman. She always had a kind word for strangers and a warm hug for those she loved. She was strong-willed and hard working, but soft-hearted, especially where her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were concerned. She will be lovingly remembered as the giver of advice, the solver of problems, the keeper of cookies, and Granny.

She was preceded in death by her husband, T.J. Frost; her mother and father, M.L. & Pearl (Lamb) Curtis; one sister, Estha Wilkins; five brothers, Eli Curtis, Leonard Curtis, Manuel Curtis, W.D. Dub Curtis, and Wendell Curtis.

Opal is survived by two sons and daughters-in law, Tom and Betty Frost of Hugo, OK and Ronny and Terri Frost of Hugo, OK; one daughter, and son-in-law, Peggy Jo and Mike Pinson of Hugo, OK; one sister, Dimple Casey, of Hugo, OK; one sister-in-law, Edna Curtis, of Hugo, OK; ten grandchildren, Lee and Kristi Frost of Honey Grove, TX, Chad and Jordana Frost of Hugo, OK, Kathy and Chris Smith of Greenville, TX, Liz Breshears of Antlers, OK, Becky and Jason Hicks of Durant, OK, Aimee & Kenneth Jordan of Lisdoonvarna, Ireland, Tamera Frost of Hugo, OK, Brad Frost of Grant, OK, Michael and Rachel Pinson of Scott AFB, IL, and Casey and Dustin Armor of Durant, OK; and twenty-two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 15, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel in Hugo, OK.
