George Harold Bowden was born February 22, 1932, in Powderly, Texas, to Bert Washington and Alice (Ingram) Bowden. He passed from this life January 27, 2014, in Hugo, OK, at the age of 81. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. George started his career as a mechanic in Gallup, New Mexico. He moved to Sherman, Texas and later to Sawyer and worked in Hugo for Maples Motor and Baggett Motor for a total of 40 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, he also built many race cars and even a dune buggy.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years Betty Cochnaur Bowden; father: Bert Washington Bowen; his Mother: Alice Ingram Bowden; brothers: Woodrow Bowden, Harvey Bowden, Ralph Bowden,Carl Bowden, Earl Bowden; Douglas Bowden; sisters: Viola Songer, Connie Wadford, Bonnie Crawford, and Aileen Long.

George is survived by children Treina Bowden of Hugo, OK; Rodney Bowden of Sawyer, OK, Pamala Benjaman of Sherman, TX, Regina Bowden of Hugo, OK, Rebecca Bowden of Hugo, OK, Kevin Bowden and wife Kari Smith of Antlers, OK, Sean and Robyn Bowden of Hugo, OK; grandchildren: Meghan Benjaman, Alex Bowden, Haley Bowden, Trevor Bowden, Skylar Chastain, Raven Bowden Lynzee Bowden, Kanyon Bowden and Chance Bowden; great grandchildren: Preston Benjaman-Sewell; nephew and niece: Dennis Cochnaur and wife Judy of Sawyer, OK and Nannette Felter Streakley of McKinney, TX; as well as many other relatives and friends.
