John E. Bodine

John E. Bodine passed away on October 19, 2010. John was born on February 5, 1922 in Dallas, TX, the son of the late C.C. and Mealie Bodine. Following graduation from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force. He served for several years in World War II, flying 59 missions over Germany as a Tech Sergeant. John received many honors while in the Air Force including a Distinguished Flying Cross.

He married the love of his life, Blondie Bodine, on December 24, 1940 in Dallas, TX. They were married 65 years before she passed away in 2006. After returning from the war, John and his wife Blondie operated a grocery store in Arlington, TX. In 1954, they purchased property in the Apple community and began his career in the ranching business in 1955. He and Blondie had four children and moved to Messer where they established the Lazy J Ranch. John and Blondie enjoyed many summers vacationing in Colorado with his sister Mary Alice and her husband Gene. At the time of his death he was a member of First Baptist Church and had previously served as a deacon at Clayton Avenue Baptist Church for over forty years. He took great pride in spreading the message of God’s love to his family and friends.

John was preceded in death by his wife Blondie Bodine and his brother-in-law Gene Coats of Arlington, TX.

John is survived by his sister: Mary Alice Coats of Arlington, TX Four children: Hope and Darrell Boling of Hugo, OK; John and Oleta Bodine of Arlington, TX; Jim and Cindy Bodine of Hugo, OK; Mary and Roy Arnold of Hugo, OK. Eight Grandchildren: Chad and Trish Arnold of Owasso, Ok; Lynne Aaron of Pauls Valley, Ok; David and Brianna Arnold of Catoosa, OK; Sara and Raul Sieberath of Austin, TX; Becky and Brian Fowler of Hugo, OK; Leah and Damian Chavarria of Austin, TX; James and Kristin Bodine of Ada, OK; Eric Bodine of Hugo, OK. And five great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday October 23 at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church Hugo.

There will be a family visitation on Thursday October 21 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
