Graveside services for Marthie Edith Martin will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the Ft. Towson Cemetery in Ft. Towson, OK. Marthie passed away on Monday, May 28, 2012, in Tulsa, OK at the age of 73.
Marthie Martin was born September 10, 1938 in Milburn, OK the daughter of Lou Charles and Willie (Edwards) Drinnon. She had lived in Choctaw County since she was seventeen years old and moved to McAlester three years ago. Her signature outfit was a baseball cap. Marthie was a member of the Lone Grove Church and loved her family and grandchildren. You could say she has bottle fed about any type of animal, some such as bunnies, calves, chickens of various kinds, turkeys, puppies, etc. She just had that special touch. She chased cows, loved fishing, gardening and anything to do outdoors. Marthie was a country girl. She also enjoyed quilting, making apple pies, sewing, and making beads.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank Martin in 1985; sisters, Louise Cannon and Edna Heddleston; one brother, William Drinnon.
Marthie is survived by one daughter, Marti Pope and husband Thomas of McAlester, OK; brother, Billy Drinnon and wife Linda of Valliant, OK; brother-in-law, Charles Heddleston; sister, Oma Morgan and husband Bill of Cleburne, TX; sister-in-law, Nina Drinnon of Ft. Towson, OK; two grandchildren, Kendall Cecil and Louis Pope; four great-grandchildren, Danny, Kolten, Bella and KodiLen Pope; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 30, 2012, from 4:00-5:30 p.m. in the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Chapel in Hugo, OK.
