Allen Ray Simpson

Allen Ray Simpson
January 2, 1955 ~ May 25, 2025

Allen Ray Simpson, a devoted family man, skilled iron worker, and lifelong resident of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, passed from this life on Sunday, May 25, 2025, in Locust Grove at the age of 70 years, 4 months, and 23 days.

Born on January 2, 1955, in Pryor, Oklahoma, Allen was the son of Ernest Paul and Vonda Lee (Anderson) Simpson. He grew up in the Locust Grove area and graduated from Locust Grove High School with the Class of 1973. Shortly after, he worked to complete his apprenticeship and training to become an iron worker—an occupation that would shape his life and legacy.

Allen was a proud member of Iron Workers Local 584. In 1977, he began his long and respected career with Williams Construction in Pryor. For nearly five decades, Allen dedicated himself to his craft as a gifted welder and a trusted mentor. He retired in January 2025 after 48 years of hard work and commitment. Known affectionately as “Pa-Pa” by many of the younger workers he trained, Allen left a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of learning from him.

A man of quiet strength, Allen was known for his dry wit, steadfast demeanor, and genuine kindness. He rarely spoke without purpose, but when he did, his words carried weight. He was never without his signature cowboy hat and blue jeans—denim was his dress clothing.

Allen’s passions extended beyond his profession. As a young man, he attended Four Corners Church near Peggs with his family. He found peace in the outdoors, whether he was hunting, being around horses, or simply tinkering and pilfering. A skilled craftsman, he built several trailers over the years and took great pride in his impressive collection of trucks.

Above all, Allen cherished his family. He loved them deeply and was especially proud of his grandchildren. His presence, quiet support, and dry humor will be missed beyond measure.

Allen is survived by: 2 children: Danetta Kelley and husband Danny of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, and Wade Simpson and fiancé` Kili Jenkins of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; 7 grandchildren: Ethan Simpson, Jacob Simpson, Austin Simpson, Todd Simpson, Jaydon Kelley, Kaitilynn Kelley, Caleb Kelley, Kaysee Jenkins, Kade Jenkins, and Kutter Jenkins; Sarah Ring: girlfriend of 20 years, her children and grandchildren; 1 brother: Paul Simpson and wife Ramona of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; 1 sister: Irene Rhodes of Murphy, Oklahoma; As well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends and former co-workers that he counted as family. Allen was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters: Kathie Cooper and Earnestene Young.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Four Corners Church of God of Apostolic Faith near Peggs, Oklahoma. Joel Safell will officiate.

He will be laid to rest at Gray Cemetery. Services are entrusted to Locust Grove Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to share memories and condolences at www.LocustGroveFuneralHome.com.
