Henry Fine was born September 20, 1946 near Locust Grove, OK to Hurley Buel Fine and Neoma Luree (Anderson) Fine. He passed on to his heavenly reward on May 27, 2026 in Tahlequah, OK at the age of 79 years. Henry married his High School Sweetheart Sue Peoples on May 10, 1965. Despite the fact Henry contracted the polio virus in October of 1952 affecting the use of his left arm. Henry worked hard to provide for his family. He never used the loss of muscle in his left hand and arm as a reason not to work.
In his early married life, Henry worked as a welder during the day and hauled hay on summer nights and weekends to provide for his family. In the early 70’s, Henry started bidding jobs as a brick mason. He one time laid over 1,900 brick in a single day. He gave a lot of men jobs during his years as brick mason. Some worked hard. Some hardly worked, but Henry wanted to help men provide for their families.
Henry also had a passion for horseback riding. He broke several horses during his early years. He never backed down from any horse. He once put his toddler son on a horse he had been breaking for someone to prove the horse was gentle enough for any adult. Henry was a very merciful and giving man. He would tell his children that it was his duty, because God had shown and given him more grace than he deserved.
Although Henry was not a preacher in his early years, he answered the call to preach. In 1999, he became the pastor of Four Corners Church. He retired from there this past December in 2025. Before Henry started preaching, he wanted to be sure he was called. During a work week at the church campgrounds in Stilwell, Henry asked a group of pastors, “How did you know you were called to preach?” A pastor from Kansas said, “Henry I woke up one day not wanting to go to work and craving fried chicken.” He said then I must be called. Henry loved making people laugh. He truly believed if we would laugh, our lives would go much better, knowing laughter works good like a medicine.
Henry is survived by: his three children: Will Fine and his wife Kim of Stroud, OK, Sis Smith and her husband Richard of Peggs, OK, and Clint Fine and his wife Jan of Peggs, OK; Ten grandchildren: Jennifer Holleman, Zachary Holleman, Jordan Fine, Nathan Smith, Heather Barefoot, Joshua Lewis, Lydia Rega, Ashley Vickrey, Caleb Fine, and Haley Knott; 18 great grandchildren; two sisters: Beth Colvin of Tahlequah and Lora Ketcher and husband Richard; one brother Jack Fine and wife Donna.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Hurley and Neoma; the love of his life, Sue; his baby sister, Beverly Rush; and his brother, Chuck Fine.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the
Four Corners Church. Reverend Rex Hendrickson will officiate. Interment will
follow at Gray Cemetery. Services have been entrusted to the Locust Grove
Funeral Home.
