Services for Donald R. Mitchell, 65, were at 10:00 a.m. Monday in the Griffin-Kennedy-Watts Chapel, Ardmore, with Rev. Garlon Taylor officiating.
Mr. Mitchell was born October 18, 1929, at Roaring Springs, Texas, and died December 1, 1994, in an Oklahoma City hospital. He was the son of Clyde and Cora Phipps Mitchell.
He had lived at Falconhead for 15 years, moving there from Ardmore. Mr. Mitchell was a plumbing contractor, working in Ardmore and Colorado. After moving to Falconhead, he was maintenance supervisor for many years. Mr. Mitchell and the former Patsy Ellis were married December 14, 1975, in Evergreen, Colorado.
A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he was a lifetime member of the V.F.W., member of the Elks Lodge, a Master Plumber in Colorado and Oklahoma, and a member and past president of the Falconhead Mens Golf Association. Mr. Mitchell was also a member of the Church of Christ.
He is survived by his mother, Cora Mitchell of Amarillo, Texas; his wife, Patsy Mitchell of the home at Falconhead; a son, Rick Mitchell, also of Falconhead; three step-sons, Greg DeBerry of Ardmore, Dale DeBerry of Norman and Randy Sessions of Lakewood, Colorado; a brother, Dell Mitchell of Trinidad, Colorado; three sisters, Clyda Nickles of Lucerne Valley, California, June Lowrance of Amarillo and LaVoe Thacker of Roaring Springs; and three grandsons, Justin DeBerry, J.T. DeBerry and Cody Mitchell.
Interment was in Rosehill Cemetery, Ardmore, with Don Pritchard, L.D. Rhodes, Mo Uhrmacher, Ken McLinn, John Simon and Lowell Thompson serving as pallbearers. Honorary bearers were members of the Falconhead Mens Golf Association. Services were directed by the Anderson-Kennedy Funeral Home. '
