A celebration of his life will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, July 21 at the First Christian Church, 210 North Third Avenue in Marietta, with Reverend Steve Shewmake officiating.

Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery, Ardmore.

At the time of his passing, Kevin was a Corporate Representative – Litigation Specialist at CIS Group in Jacksonville.

He is survived by his parents, Phillip and Yvone Goodin McGinnis of Marietta; two sons, Eric and Ryan McGinnis; grandson, Daniel Liam McGinnis of Arlington, Texas; two brothers, Phillip Jr. and wife Barbara of Ardmore and Colin and wife Lori of Chicago; a niece, Kaitlyn Martin; several nephews, William McGinnis, Matthew McGinnis and Joshua McGinnis; and numerous friends.

Kevin was a graduate of Marietta High School playing football and running track. He also attended Murray State College. Due to a change from yards to meters, his high school relay team still holds a state record!

He was a devoted father and grandfather making frequent trips home to help his son Ryan in his business, Emerald City Productions and to spend time with his son Eric and the light of his life, grandson and namesake baby Daniel. He was an avid supporter of the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 68 in Arlington. It was a source of great pride to him that both his sons attained the rank of Eagle Scout, and his sponsorship of the troop led directly to many other young men also acquiring this honor. Kevin saw the potential in people who failed to see it in themselves.

He was a mentor to many in his professional life, and his positive encouragement provided the catalyst that allowed them to achieve their goals. Many may remember him in his early years as an employee of Montgomery Ward where his brilliance in sales began. He transitioned to Eckerd Drugs where his excellence and work ethic allowed him to climb the ranks of management leading teams, stores, and districts. At Bed, Bath and Beyond, his contagious optimism and outgoing nature provided the kind of work atmosphere where others could flourish and grow themselves.

His calling led him into the world of insurance where he became the face of kindness and understanding at your door after natural disasters. His ability to relate and represent people’s best interests helped him rise to the level of corporate rep for trial and litigation. He was a kind and forgiving person whose sincerity touched many. He loved classic rock and in his later years developed a penchant for going dancing with friends and listening to new bands. His sense of humor was legendary, and if you met him, you will never be able to forget.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Jacob, Robert Moody, Kevin Boyd, Uriel Oviedo, Mike Hebron, and David Owen. Honorary bearers will be Robert Beavers, James Gill, James Anthony and Ray Anthony.

Time of visitation for family and friends will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 20 at the funeral home.
