Anna & Henry Cannon
Information by Don Young
My Great Grandparents Henry and Anna Cannon and several other family members are buried in Newport Cemetery.

My Mother, Estelle M (Cannon) Young died in January this year at 101+ years old, being born on August 3, 1913.  She left the following information that I found recently.  I may be the last of the family to remember this, so I am passing it on with this email.

Henry and Anna Cannon came to Oklahoma from the Cottage Grove area near Paris, Tennessee a year or so prior to 1900.  She died in 1903 and he died in 1909 according to the stone marker that their son, my Grandfather, Comus Temple Cannon erected.  He misspelled Anna when he chiseled the stone marker.

Also buried in that plot are one of his sisters, Effie and her baby, who both died during childbirth.  I don’t know the year.

Also buried in that plot are three of Comus’s other children who died during childbirth:  Inez and Theodore some time prior to 1913; and, Alice Mae who died several years later.  There were four other children in between.

None of the other graves are marked.
