A graveside service was held August 17 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hillside Memorial Cemetery in Ardmore with Rev. Dennis Hooper officiating.
Mrs. Lay, the daughter of Steve and Addie Tucker, early day residents of Oswalt, died August 11, 1994.
A graduate of Marietta High School at the age of 15, she attended Oklahoma College for Women, received her B.A. degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, and did graduate work at Oklahoma University. She taught first, second and third grades at Simon, her first teaching position, in 1927.
She and A.G. Lay, also a teacher, were married in 1928. He preceded her in death in 1971.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Stephen Lay; a daughter, Pamela Lay Drew; two grandsons, Ben Drew and Colin Drew of Berkeley, California; two sisters, Gladys Bridwell of Purcell and Sibyl Futch of Irving, Texas; and two brothers, Steve Tucker of Mesa, Arizona, and Gerald Tucker of Overbrook.
Services were under the direction of Moore’s Southern Chapel.
