Jesse M. Shaw died Sunday morning, November 23, 1913, age 56 years 4 months. He was born in Arkansas and came to Oklahoma at the opening 24 years ago. Mr. Shaw homesteaded about 4 miles south of Mustang, which is now part of the Geo. Bennett farm.
He was married to Julia Cox, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Cox, of Mustang on Thanksgiving day, in the year of 1896. To this union were 3 children, Pearl, Frank and Josie.
The family moved around after leaving the farm. Texas for 5 years, then to Florida, where Mr. Shaw was engaged in the teaming business and was very prosperous. The family returned to Oklahoma on Aug 28, 1913 taking the advice from Mr. Shaws physician.
The body was laid to rest at the Riverside cemetery and Rev. Scott assisted Rev. Warner with the services. Mr. Shaw was a devoted Christian and a devoted husband and father.
