Joyce Louise Baustert passed away Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025, at her home in Okarche.

Joyce was the daughter of John Charles and Louise Marie (Stieferman) Baustert and was born on Sept. 10, 1941, in Okarche. She was the fourth of five children.

She attended Holy Trinity School for 12 years and graduated in 1959.

After graduating from Kansas Newman College (now Newman University) in Wichita, Kan., Joyce joined her love for the Catholic faith with her love of educating children by embarking on a lengthy and rewarding career as a teacher in the Catholic school system.

Joyce taught elementary school students in Kansas for five years, at Rosary School in Oklahoma City for 30 years and at Holy Trinity School in Okarche for eight years.

Joyce will be remembered for her great love and dedication to her family. She spent many years caring for her parents during their later years.

One of her greatest joys in life was the time spent with her sisters, Jane and Mary Nell. She formed deep and lifelong relationships with her nieces and nephews and will be sorely missed by them.

Joyce was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, the Altar Society and Catholic Daughters of the Americas.

Joyce enjoyed word puzzles of many types, being outdoors and working in her yard and flower beds and discussing national and international news and events with members of her family.

Joyce is survived by her brother, John Peter Baustert of Okarche, and 14 nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Joyce was predeceased by her parents; her siblings Jane Voss, Mary Nell Shaw and Daniel Baustert; and by three nephews.

The vigil service was Tuesday, Jan. 21, and Mass of Christian Burial was 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22. Both services were at Holy Trinity Church in Okarche with Rev. Zac Boazman and Deacon Max Schwarz officiating.

Burial was in the Holy Trinity Cemetery under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.
