ENID — Funeral mass for Mildred Angela Novy Lacy, 91, of Lawton, will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, El Reno, Okla., with Father Mark Mason officiating.

Mrs. Lacy passed from this life to her next on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, in Lawton, Okla.

Burial will be in El Reno Cemetery , El Reno, Okla., under the direction of Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Lawton. A wake service will be 7 p.m. Thursday evening at Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel.
 
She was born to the late Edward and Bessie Novy on Jan. 30, 1920, in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Mildred was the oldest of seven children. Her earliest years were spent on a farm located southwest of Oklahoma City, where the International Airport now stands, and a family farm southeast of Okarche.
 
Mildred attended Sunnyside School until the eighth grade and later graduated from El Reno High School in 1940.
 
She was a student at Hill's Business College in Oklahoma City and was proud of her time learning airplane radio assembly in Sayre, Okla., during the World War II war support effort.
 
She met Eugene Lacy one Sunday morning in Oklahoma City after mass, through two matchmaking nuns. They were married June 7, 1943, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oklahoma City.
 
Mildred and Eugene eventually settled at Fort Sill, later purchasing a home in Lawton. Mildred was a former 4-H Club member and past president of the Knowledge Seekers' Homemakers' Extension Club.
 
She was civic-minded and very interested in state and national politics.
 
Mildred loved gardening and always kept a beautiful yard and garden. Her love and selflessness to her family was unsurpassed and she was at peace with her God.
 
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Eugene Lloyd and Jeri Lynn Lacy Jr. of Orange Park, Fla.; a daughter, Sherry Lacy McClintock of Brandon, Fla.; a granddaughter and spouse, Melanie and Mark Schucker of Lawton, Okla.; grandson, Matthew McClintock of New York City; two stepgrandchildren, Misty North of Oak Point , Texas, and Mindy Burkhart of Orange Park, Fla.; two great-granddaughters, Sydney and Ember Schucker, Lawton, Okla.; one great-grandson, Jack Schucker, Lawton, Okla., and a stepgreat-granddaughter, Lana North of Oak Point , Texas.
 
In addition, she is survived by three siblings and their families: two sisters, Frances Lord and spouse Darrel Lord of Oklahoma City, Okla., Rosella House and spouse Herschel House of Hinton, Okla., and a brother, Edward Novy and spouse Henrietta Novy of Covington, Okla.
 
She was preceded in death by a son, George Vincent Lacy; a daughter, Marilyn Jean Lacy; and two great-grandchildren. Siblings who preceded her in death were George Novy, Mary Jane Maly and Bessie Reynolds.
