Bezzie Alberta Laughlin left this life to join the Lord on January 7th, 2023 at the age of 103.

She was the daughter of Norman and Cora Barr Palmer, born on August 5th, 1919, in the city of Tupelo, Oklahoma. She had two brothers, Carl and Ernest, a sister Carrie, and a twin sister Ezzie. Bezzie grew up in Calumet, Oklahoma where she attended the old Calumet grade school and graduated from Calumet High School in 1938. During her time in high school, she enjoyed being part of the basketball team. It was in high school that she met John Laughlin. They were married on November 2nd, 1940. The love of each other lives, they shared a wonderful 64 and a half years together before John passed away in 2005. Together, John and Bezzie had two daughters, Louise and Sue. A dedicated woman of God, Bezzie was an active participant in her church, First Christian Church of Calumet. Starting in 1926 at only seven years old, she became an official member in 1933 when she was 14, and eventually became a Deaconess. During her many years there, she held several different positions. For twenty years Bezzie was a Sunday School teacher, taught vacation bible school, was a sponsor of CYF and ChiRo group, belonged to CWF and Dorcus Clubs, leader of numerous committees, and was even the 1st Chairwoman of the Board. Bezzie was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Outside of church, Bezzie enjoyed bowling, cross-stitch, flower gardening, mowing on the farm, water skiing, and traveling for vacation. But beyond her enjoyment of these pastimes, Bezzie found the most joy in her life from being a mother, a grandmother, and a great grandmother.

Bezzie is preceded by her parents Norman and Cora, brothers Carl and Ernest, sister Carrie, twin sister Ezzie, a granddaughter Leah Stone, and her beloved husband John.

She is survived by her daughters Louise “Peaches” Laughlin and Sue Newsom with husband Doyle, grandchildren Trent Slaughter, Gant, Wade, and Clint Newsom, eight great grandchildren, as well as many friends and family.
