Laura Faye [Tyndall] Poafpybitty
January 27, 1933 ~ November 27, 2010


Laura Faye Poafpybitty was born on January 27, 1933, in Winnebago Nebraska to Richard and Pauline [McCauley] Tyndall.

She died on November 27, 2010 in Lawton, Oklahoma at the age of 77.

Services are scheduled for Thursday, December 2, 2010 in the Whinery-Huddleston Chapel with Tom Buntin and Gene Keechi, officiating. Interment will follow in the Poafpybitty Family Cemetery at David's Spring, south of Apache, OK. Viewing will be from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at the funeral home.

Laura was a member of the Omaha Nation and of the Deer Clan. She was raised on the Omaha Reservation at Macy, Nebraska and attended school there. She graduated from Haskell Institute of Lawrence, Kansas in 1951. Following graduation, Laura attended a nursing program sponsored by the Indian Health Service in Lawton, Oklahoma. She married William Reynolds "Bill" Poafpybitty Jr. on September 30, 1952. She worked at Reynolds Army Hospital and several area nursing homes during her career as a nurse. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church. Laura was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; a brother, Wayne Tyndall; one sister, Maxine Blackbird; and a son, Richard Poafpybitty.

Survivors include four daughters, Michelle Harrington and husband Frank of Apache, and Laura Leader and husband Mike of Anadarko, April Poafpybitty of Lawton, and Williamette Poafpybitty, also of Lawton; two sons, William Poafpybitty of Faxon, and Ernest Poafpybitty of Apache; 19 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; one brother, Dennis Tyndall of Corpus Christi, Texas, and a host of extended family and friends.

William Reynolds Poafpybitty Jr
October 4,, 1955 ~ February 15, 2016


Word has been received of the death of William Reynolds Poafpybitty Jr, 60, of Lawton. Mr. Poafpybitty Jr passed away Monday, Feb. 15, 2016, in Lawton.

Arrangements are under direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.

William was born Oct. 4, 1955, in Winnebago, Neb., to William Reynolds Poafpybitty Sr and Laura Faye [Tyndall] Poafpybitty.

He grew up near Apache, and graduated from MacArthur High School. He attended Great Plains Vo-Tech and owned and operated his own Auto Mechanic Shop. William enjoyed watching race-car driving and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by brother, Ernest Poafpybitty; four sisters and their spouses: Michelle and Frank Harrington, Willamette Poafpybitty, Laura Poafpybitty Leader and Michael, and April Poafpybitty; and many nieces and nephews; and special friends: James and Julia Cummins, and Patricia Cummins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Richard R. Poafpybitty.

Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the funeral home.
