Bertha Lucille [Smith] McKinney
June 28, 1927 ~ April 25, 2009


Funeral services for Bertha Lucille Smith, 81, of Anadarko were held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at the Church of God in Binger with Rev Ron Nelson officiating.

Bertha was born June 28, 1927 to John Wesley and Agnes [Wilson] Smith in Binger and died Saturday, April 25, 2009 at Grace Living Center in Oklahoma City where she had been a resident for the past ten years.

She met and married the love of her life, Lucian Bowers McKinney on May 5, 1947 in Kansas. From this union four children were born. She loved her family very much and was always very c lose to her brothers and sisters growing up and maintained their close relationship after they were grown. Her greatest joy was her children, whom she loved very much. She was thankful to God for her many blessings.

She enjoyed reading. She and her husband traveled all over the world while he was in the military. She saw many beautiful sites in her travels with her husband. She enjoyed visiting with others and was a joy to be around.

She had made a profession of her faith in Christ.

She was a member of the Caddo Nation of Oklahoma and was very proud of her Native American heritage.

Bertha touched many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Wesley and Agnes Smith; two sons, Steven McKinney and Luician B. McKinney Jr; and several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by one daughter, Ruth McKinney of Texas; one son, Bert Allen McKinney of Kansas; two sisters, Lilliue O'Neal and Janie Tartsah; three brothers, Wesley Smith, Lloyd Smith and Darrell Smith; three half sisters, Louise Greene, Mary Lou [Smith] Villineuva and Bonnie Beaver; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Burial was in the Binger Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Anadarko.
