Gerald Dell Carey
December 25, 1923 ~ March 20, 2010


Funeral services for Gerald Dell Carey will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at Binger Baptist Church with Dave Fuller officiating. Burial will be in the Murray Cemetery in Binger, under direction of Turner Funeral Home. Condolences may be sent to the family at turnerfuneralhomes@gmail.com.

Gerald Dell Carey was born Dec. 25, 1923, to Delmer and Viola [Lassiter] Carey in Binger. He passed away on March 20, 2010, in Oklahoma City at the age of 86.

Gerald graduated from Binger High School. He went on to OSU to earn a bachelor''s degree, then a master's degree.

He was a World War II Navy veteran and an Army veteran in Korea.

He was also the Canadian County Extension agent and the Canadian County Administrator. He taught veterans agriculture at Binger High School. He was a farmer, rancher and cattleman.

After retirement in 1995, he moved back to Binger. He lived in El Reno for 36 years.

Gerald was united in marriage to Mary Ann Channell for 39 years. She preceded him in death on Feb. 20, 1988, in El Reno. He later married Charolette [Leck] Cart on July 1, 1993, in El Reno. Gerald was a member of First Baptist Church in El Reno.

Survivors include his wife, Charolette Carey of the home in Binger; three daughters, Lisa Covert and husband, Joe of Bentonville, Ark., Julie Cumbie and husband, Scott of Edmond, and Laura Anderson of Bumpass, Va.; a son, Matthew Carey of the home; four stepsons, Kelly Cart of Binger, Brad Cart and wife, Connie of Binger, Jeff Cart and wife, Lori of Binger, and Dale Cart and wife, Diane of Binger; 13 grandchildren, Brandon Carey, Steffen Carey, Misty Veit, Joshua Covert, Anna Covert, Precious Covert, Zachery Halpainy, Alexandra Cumbie, Victoria Cumbie, Cory Cart, Jerry Dale Cart, Candice McLemore and Caitlyn Cart; four great-grandchildren, Conner Cart, Brandy McLemore, Atticus Veit and Ali Covert; a sister, Maxine McCullough of Weatherford; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delmer and Viola Carey; his first wife, Mary Ann Carey; and a brother, Tommy Jack Carey. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Binger Baptist Church.

Lisa, Julie and Laura would like to give special thanks to their brother, Matt, for his exceptional care and love.
