Donnie W. "Don" Boyd
June 29, 1936 ~ August 6, 2017


Boyd, Don, 81, farmer and rancher, died Aug. 6. Services were Wednesday.

Don Boyd was born 3 miles South of Cooperton, OK on June 29, 1936 to Ross and Lorene ]Smith] Boyd. He had 1 brother, Kenneth, 2 sisters, Bonnie Sims and Judy Richey.

He passed away Sunday, August 6, 2017 in OKC, OK at the age of 81.

Don worked at several things during his life; he worked in Hunts ketchup factory in California, did construction work, was a rock truck driver, a dairy farmer, an oilfield pumper, and he was highly involved with farming and ranching for many years.

Don was a member of the Oklahoma National Guard for over 6 years; he completed advanced armory school at Fort Knox, KY. He was a 2nd LT. in the 45th Infantry Division, serving as Platoon Leader and Tank Commander, and he taught classes for the National Guard.

Don married the love of his life, Joyce Rogers, on July 2, 1956. They were married for 61 wonderful years.

To this blessed union were born 4 children: Brenda, Linda, Dixie, and Chuck. They all graduated from Binger Schools and from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.

Don served on many community boards, including the county fair board, the cemetery board, and the ambulance board. He was also an honorary FFA member, and Class parent of the Sr. Class of 1980.

Don was a member of Binger Baptist Church where he served as deacon for 10 years and he was a proud part of the Wiser Men's Sunday School Class, which he loved and dearly enjoyed.

He leaves behind his wife, Joyce Boyd of Binger, OK, his 3 daughters, Brenda Mooter and husband Bobby of Binger, OK, Linda McGee and husband Kenny of Moore, OK, and Dixie Whitman of Binger, OK, his son, Chuck Boyd and wife Allison of Prosper, TX; 8 grandchildren, Macy Fendley and her husband Chris, Kaylee Parker and her husband Aaron, Cole Whitman and his wife Katie, Paden Mooter and fiancé Leah Blevins, Bradyn Mooter and his wife Dacia, and Tate, Cade, and Lindsay Boyd; 4 great grandchildren, Carter Fendley and Kenley Parker, and Blakelea and Boyd Mooter; Sisters, Bonnie Sims and her husband Billy of Mt. View, OK, Judy Richie of Oklahoma City, OK, and one brother, Kenneth Boyd and his wife Arlene of Cooperton, OK.

Don will be greatly missed by family, friends, neighbors, and by his church family.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Lorene Boyd.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations to the Binger Baptist Church, Binger, OK.
