Walter H. Blood
January 12, 1890 ~ June 3, 1973


Walter H. Blood came to Binger in 1902 in a covered wagon.

He was married to the former Hazel Thompson on December 25, 1914.

He was a farmer his entire life.

Blood started the multi-million-dollar peanut industry in Caddo county when he grew the first commercial crop in 1928.

He was a member of the Binger First Baptist church, Odd Fellows and Modern Woodsmen of America, and had served three terms on the Binger school board and served 50 years as a judge on the Caddo county election board.

Father of Roy of Oklahoma City, Elmer, Leon, Frances Ralston and Reba Lewis, all of Binger and Carroll and Lonnie of Lookeba and Oleta Clayton, Manteca, California.

Margaret Elizabeth [Opitz] Blood was born September 11, 1923 to Paul and Lina P. [Lebelt] Opitz in Binger, OK. .

She passed away Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Binger Nursing Home in Binger, OK at the age of 93..

Margaret graduated Valedictorian of her graduating class at Lookeba High School..

She married Elmer Blood January 24, 1942 in Hinton. He preceded her in death August 21, 1997 in Binger..

They moved to Gainesville, TX, where Elmer served in the U.S. Army for a short time. They moved back to the Binger area in 1944..

Her main occupation throughout life was her farm and family. She worked at the Birdsong Peanut Company in Ft. Cobb and Sickles and for Paul Helm at the grocery store in Binger, among other jobs. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, quilting, canning, travelling, and was active in the community. Margaret was a member of the Home Demonstration Club, and a member of the Binger Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School..

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Lina [Lebelt] Opitz, husband Elmer Blood, son, Kenny Blood, and siblings, Otto, Rudolph, G.W. and Walter Opitz..

She is survived by her children, Jeanie Sweger of Binger, OK, Janice Tanguay and her husband Paul of Oklahoma City, OK, Carlin Blood of Binger, OK, and daughter-in-law Shana Brewer of Rogers, AR; grandchildren, Kjersti Sanders and her husband Geoff of Sandy, OR, Charlie Sweger of Binger, OK, Jeffrey Tanguay and his wife Rachel of Springfield, MO, Cody Blood and his wife Julie of Missouri City, TX, Jody Blood of Collinsville, OK, Barry Blood and his wife Jenni of Garfield, AR, Dana Winn and her husband Dickie of Pea Ridge, AR, and J.P. Brewer and his wife Jessica of Rogers, AR; thirteen great-grandchildren, Kelly and Audrey Sanders, Chaunery Tanguay, Makenley and Kenny Dorsey, Kyle Bahl, Jackson and Kennedy Blood, Caden and Cooper Blood, and Cash, Tuff, and Jett Sweger; one sister, Helen Brewer of Ft. Smith, AR; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends..

Services: Binger Baptist Church, Thursday, 1:00 pm, February 9, 2017, Binger, OK
Officiating: Rev. Mark Price
Burial: Murray Cemetery, Binger, OK, under the direction of Turner Funeral Home, Binger, Oklahoma.
