Louis Dale Rudle

Louis was born September 3, 1930, to Earl Edward Ridle and Nellie Lucille Hawkins Ridle on their farm southeast of Gracemont, Oklahoma.

He was one of six children. He died on June 5, 2011, in Yukon, Oklahoma, with family by his side.

Louis attended school in Gracemont through the 8th grade and graduated from high school in Anadarko, Oklahoma, in 1949.

He attended college at Southwestern State College and received an Industrial Engineering degree in 1957 from Oklahoma State University when it was known as Oklahoma A&M; a Master's Degree in Special Education from Arizona State University in 1963; and he did post-graduate work toward a PhD. at Arizona State University and the University of Alaska.

In 1949, Louis joined the National Guard and served with "B" Battery, 158th Field Artillery Battery in the Korean War.

Following his discharge from the Army in 1952, he met and married Beth Lucas in 1953 in Anadarko, Oklahoma

Louis taught industrial arts and was a school administrator in Phoenix, Arizona; was appointed by Governor Bill Egan as Director of Vocational Education for the State of Alaska in Juneau, Alaska; worked as the Director of Labor Relations for Alyeska Pipeline in Anchorage, Alaska, served as a labor arbitrator for Sealand Services, a world-wide steamship company; and was the Director of Cooperative Education at Redlands Community College in El Reno, Oklahoma.

After retirement he was a full-time arbitrator for the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Services until 2011.

In 1967, Louis and Beth moved their young family to Juneau, Alaska. Their journey was a weeklong drive ending with an Alaska Marine Highway ferry ride carrying all their belongings behind in a trailer.

Louis took to living in Alaska right away where he loved to fish, hunt and travel. For work, he traveled all over Alaska. He had many friends in Alaska with whom he kept in touch until his death.

After many years in Alaska and other places, Louis and Beth moved back to their home state of Oklahoma where they reestablished ties with many old friends and made many new friends.

Louis was very active in the U.S. Marshals Posse--a non-profit group that was first formed to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of the Marshals Service.

Louis rode in many parades across Oklahoma representing the Posse. Louis was often the center of a good time, a good story, or a good deed. He was loved by many all over the world for his quick wit and ability to fix or build anything.

He was "Uncle" to many who needed his help or friendship. He was a ringleader of a coffee group that met early every morning to discuss the hot topics of the day.

Louis was predeceased by two children, Dana and William; his parents and brothers Roy and Harold Ridle.

He is survived by his wife Beth of Yukon, Oklahoma; sisters Amy Sanner of Gracemont Oklahoma and Nell Andrews of Fort Smith, Arkansas; brother Earl Ridle of Fort Worth, Texas; sons Lynn and wife Kim Ridle of Juneau, Alaska; Tim and wife Teresa Ridle of Anchorage, Alaska; daughter Leslie Ridle of Anchorage, Alaska, and Washington, D.C.; grandchildren, Tyler Mohr, Brandon Ridle and Chelsey Brummitt, Jacob Ridle, Amy Ridle, Haley Ridle, Kaytie Ridle and Emma Ridle; great-grandchildren Krew, Aubrey, Ryder, and Hajla; numerous nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends. He loved his two horses, Tiger and Molly.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 8, at 4pm at Yanda Funeral Home in Yukon, Oklahoma, and a graveside service will be held at 10am at the cemetery in Anadarko, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances can be sent to the U.S. Marshals Posse, Western District of Oklahoma, Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 2246, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73101.
