Alvin Leon Redin

1922-2007

Alvin Leon Redin, 85, passed from this life Thursday, Oct. 18, at the Veteran's Center in Lawton.

He was born Feb 3, 1922 in Colony to John C. and Evie M (Harbison) Redin.

Al grew up in Anadarko and lived here most of his life. He had been a resident of the Vet Center in Lawton since August, 2006.

He joined the Army Air Force when WW II began, and was a B-2 Bomber mechanic at Altus Air Base, Chanute Field, Illinois and Vance Air Base, Enid.

After the war he came back to Anadarko and worked at several jobs, including operating a furniture store, selling sewing machines, Snap-On Tools, and at Zip Landes Station, before he opened Trader's Steakhouse and Trader's Store in 1959.

He owned the Food Bank at lst and Central for several years, also. He loved buying, selling and trading.

He belonged to the American Legion and to the Anadarko Oddfellows Lodge.

He and the former Marie Cotten were married in Wichita Falls on Apr 17, 1957.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marie, on Aug. 11, 1997, an infant son, Calvin Leon Redin, 1 brother, Lindsay Ray Redin and 1 sister Oreca Leonard, and a half brother, Birdwell Helms.

Survivors include one daugher, Karen Chapman and husband Mark of Mangum; one granddaughter, Karla Milam of Edmond; one grandson, Trevor Nealis of Mangum; 1 great grand daughter and 1 great grandson, both of Edmond; 2 nieces, Vanda Leonard and Linda Leonard, both of Oklahoma City, and several cousins, including Ralph Redin of Anadarko.

Graveside Services were Tuesday, Oct 23 at Memory Lane Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family via e-mail to steversonfuneralhome@netride.net
