Charles Ray Miller

Charles Ray Miller was born November 20, 1941, in Cement, Okla., to Joseph Albert and Opal (Bradshaw) Miller, and passed from this life early Friday morning, January 17, 2003, at his home south of Anadarko, at the age of 61 years, 1 month and 27 days, following a five-month illness.

He attended Pioneer and Chickasha schools, and started working at Fowler's Red Bud Grocery when he was about 14. After Dunn's bought the store, he continued to work there.

He and the former Carolyn Baker were married on September 17, 1960, in Chickasha.

They moved to Anadarko 35 years ago when Charlie went to work for Peck's Red Bud. He worked there for a couple of years, and went back to Chickasha to work for Walter Snedeker. Two years later he came back to Peck's Red Bud for another two years, until he went to work as a route salesman for Keebler. He retired from Keebler as District Manager in 2001.

Charlie was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He was ordained a deacon this past year after 35 years of faithful service to his Lord.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Jim, Alton and Wilburn Miller.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn, of the Anadarko home; two sons, Tommy Miller and his wife, A. J., of Anadarko, and Donnie Miller and his wife, Teresa, of Cyril; one daughter, Sharla Sanders and her husband, Derek, of Blanchard; grandchildren, Tiffany, Alyssa and Launi Miller, all of Anadarko, Kris Mitchell, of Oklahoma City, Jaela and Jayce Miller, both of Cyril, Nicolas and Noah Sanders (and one on the way), of Blanchard; three brothers, Thomas Miller and wife, Joan, of Childress, Texas, Pete Miller and wife, Mary, of Houston, and Gene Miller and wife, Sherrie, of Amarillo; a cousin who was raised as a sister, Norma Jean Nichols, and her husband Harvey, of Guthrie; a sister-in-law, Shirley Miller, of Chickasha; an aunt, Mary McAllister, of Carmichael, California; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and a wide circle of loving friends and thoughtful neighbors.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 20, at the Bethel Baptist Church, with the pastor, Rev. Ray Weathers, and Charlie's son, Rev. Donnie Miller, Pastor of the Full Gospel Church of Cyril, officiating.

Burial will follow in Memory Lane Cemetery under the direction of Steverson Funeral Home.

The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Bethel Baptist Church Family Life Center in Charlie's memory.
