Alta E. [Heisler] Miller

Services for Alta E. Miller, 99, of Anadarko will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at the First Christian Church in Anadarko with the Rev. Richard Cox officiating.

Mrs. Miller was born Jan 15, 1910 in Casper, Wyo., to Samuel Delbert and Marie "Mary" (Husted) Heisler and passed from this life on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009 at the Physicians Hospital in Anadarko.

She married William Wallace Miller in Binger in 1929. To this union was born three children, William Jr., Dolores Marie and Barbara Ann Miller. Mr. Miller preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, Bill Miller Jr., and her daughter Dolores Marie Britt.

Mrs. Miller attended school at Snow White School in Binger. She was a wonderful wife, mother and friend.

She was active with the Rebekah Assembly. She held the state office as state warden in 1956, vice-president in 1957, state president in 1958 and secretary-treasurer. She was a member for over 30 years

Mrs. Miller loved her family and her grandkids. She enjoyed her garden and raising roses were a joy to her. She was a good neighbor and friend to all.

She was an avid letter writer and kept up an active correspondence until failing health prevented.

She was very close to her mother-in-law, Lillie Mae (Painter) Miller. She lived in a small house on the same lot as Alta until her failing health put her in the nursing home.

Alta was an excellent cook and baked practically every other day keeping a steady supply of breads and sweet rolls available.

She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Ann Miller-Welch and her husband, Jim D., of Anadarko, her brother, Paul Lankford Heisler of Santa Rosa, Calif., her grandchildren, Mike Miller and his wife, Darla, Pam Raymond and her husband, David, James W. Britt, and Bruce Britt ; her great-grandchildren, Brandon and Dustin Miller, Deanna Raymond, Dannah Harrington, James D., Tiffan;y, Seth, Halee and Chelsea Britt; her step-great-grandchildren, Mark Spear, Abby Trabert, and Sarah Harris; her son-in-law, James E. Britt of Anadarko and many cousins, other relatives and friends.

Burial will be in Anadarko's Memory Lane Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home of Anadarko.
