Susan [Bottom] McLaughlin

Mrs. Susan Bottom

Mrs. Susan Bottom was born Oct. 25, 1852 and departed this life April 17, 1928, at the age of 75 years, 4 months and 23 days. She was born and reared in McLean County, Ky., and at the age of 15 years she was united in marriage to R.L. McLaughlin. To this union nine children were born. They are all living except the husband, who departed this life Sept. 30, 1924, and one son who died about five years ago. Those surviving are Henry and Jesse McLaughlin, Paragould, Ark.; Walter, David, Kelly and Willie of Rumsey, Ky.; the daughters are Mrs. Isaac Calvert, Anadarko, and Mrs. Lee Castin, Rumsey, Ky.

She professed faith in our loving Savior and united with the Missionary Baptist Church of Prairie View at the time of her confession and lived a devoted Christian life; her last days were her happiest days.

She had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Calvert, for the past four years. To know her was to love her. She leaves, besides her eight children and a number of grandchildren, a host of friends to mourn her loss. We feel our loss is Heaven's gain and may those who are left behind live in a way that they some day may clasp glad hands with this dear mother and friend in a world of joy and bliss.

Each member of the Prairie View church and community wish to extend to the bereaved our heartfelt sympthy and prayers we too feel in the loss of this dear sister.

Funeral services were held at the Prairie View church with Bro. C.A. Reasor of Oklahoma City, her former pastor, officiating. Pallbearers were composed of members of the Prairie View church as follows: A.G. Weathers, H.H. Anderson, Rhubert Calvert and Jack Anderson.

"Mother, dear, we know we'll miss you, and the days will seem so long; but, dear mother, some day we'll meet you around that beautiful Heavenly throne."

Funeral services were conducted at Prairie View church Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 and interment was in the Anadarko cemetery under the direction of Farmer & Grimmett, funeral directors.
