Monroe Lopez
April 28, 1931 ~ March 1, 2013


Monroe Lopez, 81 of Anadarko, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, March 1, 2013 at Physicians Hospital in Anadarko.

He was born April 28, 1931 to Andrew and Emma [Osborne] Lopez in Verden, Oklahoma.

He grew up on a farm north of Verden on the banks of the Washita River. He worked on the family farm his early years before being employed at Sequoia Carpet Mills in 1973.

In the early 1970's he married Bertha Holtz. To this union were born a son, Eric Scott and a daughter, Melissa.

He then went to work at Western Farmer's Electric Co-Op and worked for 20 plus years before retiring in 1994.

In 1993 he married Betty Hall.

His greatest love was for his children and grandchildren.

He enjoyed country western dancing and spending his days off at the lake with family and friends. He was always there for friends and even strangers in need. He instilled in his children the importance of getting an education and having a good work ethic, and to use that education to better themselves and the people around them.

He was an elder of the Delaware Tribe and decedent of Black Beaver.

He loved his family, friends, animals and life. He will be greatly missed and remembered by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by:
Two sons: Eric Lopez and his wife, Rhonda, of Anadarko, OK and their children, Caulder Lopez and Jacob Post, Gary Hall and his wife, Carla, of Anadarko, OK
Two daughters, Melissa Klingman and friend, Jeff Powell, of Anadarko, OK, Linda Halsey and husband, Don, of Anadarko, OK
Four grandchildren
One sister, Wanda Parker of San Diego, CA.
Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Betty three brothers, Joe Lopez, Albert McCoy and Norman McCoy, pets, Clyde, beloved dog, Blackie, beloved cat.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 A.. M., Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Smith Chapel. Officiating.

Burial will follow in Memory Lane Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Anadarko, Oklahoma.
