Dorthea "Jo" Laney

Dorthea "Jo" Laney of Oklahoma City died May 19, 2007 at the age of 78. She was the only child born to Avery Williams and Ellen Scoggins in Wilson Oklahoma. She attended grammar school in Norman and high school in Cyril .

She is preceded in death by her birth parents, stepfather J.A. McAdoo, and her loving husband of many years, Duane Laney.

She worked at the ASCS, Agricultural Stabilization Conversation Service office in Anadarko for many years before moving with Duane to Stillwater, where they both retired from the Agricultural Conservation, ASC office.

She is survived by her two children, Steve Peck and Brenda Nixon; five grandchildren, Clay, Gala, Camille, Jennifer and Brad; five great-grandchildren, one sister, Virginia Day, other relatives and many, many friends.

One of her favorite sayings is "Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance."

Memorial service will be May 30th at 2 PM at Anadarko Memory Lane Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers a contribution would be appreciated to the American Heart Association or Arthritis Foundation.
