Nancy Caroline [Pitts] Horn

Funeral services for Nancy Caroline Pitts Horn, 70, of Anadarko, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 10 at the First Baptist Church in Anadarko with Rev. Randy Robertson, officiating.

She was born Jan 3, 1940 to S.R. and Inez Pitts in Mesa, Arizona and was called home by the Lord on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City.

She was a graduate of the Anadarko High School in the class of 1958.

She met and married the love of her life, Hillard Lynn Horn, who was a local businessman from Washita, on August 31, 1958 in Anadarko. From this union was born two wonderful sons, Mike, who was born in 1959 and Larry, who was born in 1964.

After the two boys entered school, Nancy enrolled at the University of Science and Arts in Chickasha in the fall of 1965. She completed her degree in 1969 in Business Education.

In 1970 she began her student teaching at Broxton Schools, then in 1972 she began her career as an educator in Anadarko High School. In 1975 Nancy received her Master's of Business Education from Oklahoma University.

She continued her passion as a teacher for the next 25 years which brought great joy and satisfaction as she touched the lives of so many children.

After retiring she worked for Sanders, Welch, and Wallis, CPA's during tax season. With retirement, came a time of travel and a continued life of service.

Her greatest joy was her family, whom she loved dearly. Always active as a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Anadarko, Nancy was a part of many ministries. She was a teacher in the ladies department and an active member of the choir. She loved praising the Lord in song and serving Him to the fullest.

Nancy enjoyed playing bridge, reading, and gardening. She worked as a volunteer at the Christian Center. She was a member and officer of the Garden Club, and was on the board of Friends of the Library. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Nancy initiated the Piano Fund at the First Baptist Church. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to that fund in Loving Memory of Nancy.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Hillard of the home; two sons; Mike Horn and wife, Jeanne of Schertz, Texas and Larry Horn of Arbuckle, California; five grandchildren: Tiffany Michelle McKinnis of Connerville, Jayme Horn of Selma, Texas; Jayson Horn of Phoenix, Ariz., Seth Horn of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Chelsea Horn of Schertz; three great grandchildren: Addyson Horn, Bryce McKinnis and River Rose McKinnis; one brother, Ronnie Pitts and wife, Diane of Lebanon, Ore., and one niece: Wendy Mueuler.
