Josephine [Corbin] Everett

Josephine Everett, 93, of Oklahoma City, OK, passed away on December 31, 2010 while visiting her daughter in Cookeville, TN.

She was born on July 17, 1917 in Chickasha, OK to Mrytle and Perry T. Corbin, but grew up in Anadarko, OK, where she was a Girl Scout and earned the Eagle Rank, as well as being active in the school drama department and her church youth group.

She attended Oklahoma College for Women (now called University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma), graduating in 1939 with a Home Economics degree and a minor in Speech and English.

She married Earl Everett in November 1942 and they shared 53 years of marriage.

She taught school in Lawton, Dundee, Binger, and Western Heights High School in Oklahoma City, where she taught English and Home Economics.

After retirement, they traveled extensively and enjoyed spending time with their family and friends. Through the years she was very active in the DAR and in Western Oaks Christian Church, serving on various committees, singing in the choir, involved with Christian Womens Fellowship, and was a deacon over many years.

Josephine is survived by her daughters: Nancy Knoy of the home, and Ellen Beckham of Cookeville, TN; and son-in-law, Sonny Beckham; granddaughters: Nancy Jo Beckham, and Tomell Walton; grandsons: Brian Beckham and Bill Knoy; great-grandsons: Coltin Walton, Roland Walton, Billy Knoy, Zach Knoy, Samuel Beckham and Carter Beckham.

She will be remembered as someone who loved life and people. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and she will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Western Oaks Christian Church's "Capital Campaign."

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Wed., Jan. 5, 2011, at Mercer-Adams Chapel in Bethany, OK, with interment following in Memory Lane Cemetery, Anadarko, OK.
