Sarah Opal [Line] Buchanan
October 1, 1911 ~ December 20, 2004


Funeral service for Sarah Opal Buchanan, age 93, of Verden, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 22, 2004, in the Verden First Baptist Church. Rev. Edward Whitley will officiate and Rev. Johnny Wray will assist.

Sarah Opal Buchanan was born on October 1, 1911, the daughter of Sherman and Laura Line, in Caddo County, and departed this life on December 20, 2004, in Verden.

Opal attended Verden School. She married Herbert Buchanan on December 24, 1932, and they lived in the LaCrosse Community, where they operated the LaCrosse Grocery and farmed for many years. In 1962, they moved to Verden. Opal worked many places during her lifetime including Hicks Dept. Store, Davis TG&Y, and most recently Maxine's Steak House in Anadarko as cashier, where she met many friends and was loved by all.

God has now welcomed Opal (Grandma "B") into Heaven with open arms and she will be one of His choice guests throughout eternity. All because she accepted Jesus as her Savior many years ago and was of Baptist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, infant daughter, Dorothy Fay, one son, Bobby, one great granddaughter, Melisa Tharp, son-on-law, Cecil Tharp, four sisters, and four brothers.

Survivors include: daughter, Betty Tharp, of Verden; son, Richard Buchanan, of Verden; son, Harold Buchanan, of Verden; nine grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Evelyn Buchanan, of Purcell; brother-in-law, James Carlson, of Chickasha; many nieces and nephews and friends.

Interment will be in the Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko. Service will be under the direction of the McRay's Verden Funeral Home.

The family extends a special thanks to her Hospice nurses, Diana and Linda and Jeff Barr.

John Franklin Buchanan
September 25, 1949 ~ April 22, 2019


John Franklin Buchanan, 69, of Tuttle, died Monday, April 22, 2019, in Oklahoma City. He was born September 25, 1949 in Anadarko, Oklahoma.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era.

John married Lynnette Hoover on August 10, 1979 in Dallas, Texas.

He worked as a store manager for RGA and retired in 2016.

In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, photographing birds, riding motorcycles, reading western novels, watching sports, especially basketball, and watching old western movies and Gunsmoke.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn Buchanan of Tuttle; one son, Michael Buchanan and his wife, Billie, of Haysville, Kansas; three grandchildren, Kristen Eby and her husband, Brandon, of Pawnee, Illinois, Ashley Selph and her husband, Trey, of Yukon, and Paul Buchanan of Haysville, Kansas; two great grandchildren, Brayden Eby and Rylee Selph; one sister, Pat Wideman of Garland, Texas; two brothers, Bert Funk and his wife, Carol, of Moore and Verne Scott of Alma, Arkansas; and many other loved ones and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, April 26, 2019, at the Eisenhour Funeral Home Chapel in Blanchard.

Burial will follow in the Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.
