Bowers' Rites Are Held Here

Gracemont Man's Funeral Held At Smith's Chapel

Joseph C. Bowers, 75 year old retired Caddo county farmer, died at 11 a.m. Thursday at the home of his son, Vernon, seven miles north west of Gracemont.

Final rites were scheduled to be held at 2 p.m. today, Friday, at the Smith Funeral Chapel with the Reverend Whipple of Anadarko officiated. Reverend Whipple is the pastor of the Anadarko Church of God.

Was Farmer

Mr. Bowers had been a farmer all of his life having moved in early statehood from Missouri to Oklahoma. He came to Caddo county in 1928.

A devout member of the Baptist faith. Mr. Bowers joined that church in 1914.

He was born in Monitor county, Missouri on March 16, 1862.

Burial was to be in the Anadarko Cemetery.

Survivors include four sons, Vernon and Walter of Gracemont; and Ray and Lonzo of Tecumseh, Oklahoma. One sister, Mrs. Julia Deering and one brother, Ben Bowers, are both survivors and live in Missouri.

Mrs. Bowers preceded Mr. Bowers in death several years ago.
