Melva Gene [Murphy] Challis

Graveside service for J. C. Blackburn, 81, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held Funeral services for Melva Gene Challis, 76, of Tuttle were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 7, 2004 at the Sowers Memorial Chapel. Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m. at the Hinton Cemetery, Hinton, Oklahoma.

Melva Gene Challis was born December 21, 1928 in Hinton, Oklahoma the daughter of Elmer B. and Sylva Lee (Wise) Murphy and died June 2, 2004 in Moore, Oklahoma. Mrs. Challis was raised at Hinton. She and Albert Challis were married September 18, 1945 in Wheeler, Texas. They moved to Tuttle in 1971.

Mrs. Challis was preceded in death by her parents: Elmer Murphy and Sylva Murphy; one sister: Geraldine Murphy.

Survivors include her husband Albert Challis of the home; four sons: Troy Challis of Oklahoma City; Wayne Challis of Tuttle; Neal Challis of Blanchard; Terry Challis of Oklahoma City; two daughters: Pat Shatwell of Tuttle; Cheryl Gene Clawson of Oklahoma City; one sister: Oleta Challis of Bethany, Oklahoma; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; also numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Interment was in the Hinton Cemetery, under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home, Tuttle.
