Iris Marie [Gray] Colbert
May 17, 1924 ~ June 30, 2020


Iris Marie Colbert Parker of El Reno was laid to rest at Faith Family Church on Saturday, July 11, 2020, at 11 a.m. Interment was at Graceland Cemetery in Bridgeport.

Marie was born May 17, 1924, in Watonga to Ira and Minnie (Taylor) Gray, and passed away on June 30, 2020, in Oklahoma City.

Marie married George Colbert on Jan. 27, 1940, in Watonga. They had 11 children. She was known as an extraordinary cook, homemaker, worshipper, prayer warrior and mother.

Marie was a member of Beulah Land C.O.G.I.C. in Geary, where she was the Church Mother and very well respected and loved.

Marie was preceded in death by her father and mother, Ira and Minnie [Taylor] Gray; brothers, Gilbert, Wilbert, Raymond, Little Bit and Oscar [Marie] Gray; sisters, Ebby, Fay, Fern, Ludy Gray and Luvertis [Howard] Robinson; daughters, Gloria [Joseph Davis] and Faith Sims; sons, Lyle Keith Colbert, Gordon Lewis [Jerry Sue] Colbert and Kenneth Earl Colbert; granddaughter, Carmen (Marqus) Myles, and grandson, Simeon Colbert.

Marie is survived by daughters, Karen [Glen] Bookman of El Reno, Beverly [Willard] Paige of Oklahoma City, Sherri [David] Anderson of El Reno and Bonnie [Ronnie] Hunter of El Reno; sons, Barry [Eleanor] of Owasso and Gary Colbert of Cashion; over 100 grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces, special family members and friends.
