Lester Evert Williams

Lester Evert Williams, 85, was born on August 26th, 1926 in Boley, Texas to John and Lilie [Simpson) Williams.

Lester passed away on Sunday, January 1st, 2012 in Oklahoma City, OK after an extended illness.

He moved to the Caddo County area at an early age and lived in the Fort Cobb area most of his life.

Lester married Norvilee Johnson on February 2, 1946 in Anadarko, OK. She preceded him in death in 1997 after 51 years of marriage. To this union were born three children; Jimmy, Ronnie and Joyce.

Lester loved the Lord and reading the Bible. As children, our dad used to read the Bible with us. The Bible was a way for us to help our dad learn to read due to an eight grade education. Our father loved the Lord so much and by his grace he became a Sunday School Adult Teacher. He served as Adult Sunday School Teacher at Macedonia Baptist Church for over 20 years. He instilled in all of his children the importance of knowing the Lord. He liked listening to gospel, blues, and country and western music. He enjoyed time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He worked as a farmer for many years, and at Sequoyah Mills and for Caddo County District #3. Lester loved life and was very much a people person, never meeting a stranger.

He is survived by: One daughter, Joyce Smith of Chickasha, OK. Two sons; Jimmy Williams of Anadarko, OK and Ronnie Williams of Ft. Cobb, OK. Two grandsons; Craig Williams of Austin, TX and Justin Williams of Moore, OK. One granddaughter, Stacey Foxworthy of Okla. City, OK and two great-grandsons; Xavier Williams and Jayden Williams of Moore, OK. A host of neices, nephews, other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Norvi Lee Williams and four brothers; Mac Williams, Sylvester (Joe) Williams, John Williams and Sam Williams. Two sisters; Annie Brooks and Rozena Johnson.
