Woodrow "Woody" Walker
May 26, 1926 ~ February 5, 2016


Woodrow “Woody” Walker entered this life on May 26, 1926 in Kenefic, OK born to Gertie and Ida [Holcomb] Walker and entered his Heavenly home on February 5, 2016 in Durant, OK at the age of 89.

Woody married the love of his life, Betty Reasor on June 10, 1949 and they were truly blessed with 66 years together.

He was owner and operator of many Durant Full-service stations and car washes. He owned the first Durant coin operated automatic carwash at the Mobile station. He was the first Shell gasoline distributor in Oklahoma at the Shell South 9th station. He continued his business opening Woody Walker Service Center. In the late 1960's he owned and operated the Durant Raceway Slot Car Track, for many children to enjoy.

He was a dedicated and faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church and a member of Durant Elks Lodge, Hickory Hollow Rod and Gun Club, Kiwanis, Jaycees, Durant Round Up Club and the Good Sam’s Travelers Club.

He enjoyed traveling, fishing, mowing, music, meeting his friends at the coffee shop, RFD TV and he treasured his time with his sweet family and friends.

Woody was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Willie and Jesse Walker; sisters, Mary Lee Richardson and Ethel Eggenburg and son in law, Norm Clarkson.

Those loved ones left behind to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Betty Walker of the home; daughters, Patti Clarkson of Durant and Traci Reid and husband Charlie of Durant; granddaughters, Erikka Rich and husband Clint of Denison and Natalie Clarkson of Mead; grandsons, Kenneth Reid and Steve Reid and wife Lesley; great grandchildren, Jacie Burnett, Zander Clarkson, Josh Reid, Ryan Reid, Stephanie Reid and Rachel Reid; his beloved dog, “Sadie Jo”; and numerous extended family and many friends.

A celebration of Woody’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Darel Bunch officiating.

Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery with Charlie Reid, Clint Rich, Ronnie Walker, Sean Corbin, Andres Aguinaga and Charlie Horton serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Harold Haddock, James Granger, Gomer Eddins, Thomas Phipps, Vern DeVore, Jerry Richardson, John Eggenburg, and Scotty Madison.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6-8 PM.

The family wishes to extend gratitude to Dr. Vivek Khetpal, Aspire Home Health and special caregivers, Diana Eddins and Peggy Yandell for their love and exceptional care of Woody.
