John Andrew Mendenhall

County Pioneer Resident Dies; Rites At Fort Cobb Services for John Andrew Mendenhall, pioneer Caddo county resident, were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Fort Cobb Funeral chapel. Interment was in the Oak Grove cemetery.

Mendenhall, 96 years of age, had made his home many years in Carnegie with his daughter, in a nursing home at Chickasha for several months before he died Monday.

He was a retired farmer.

He was born August 20, 1862, at Montezuma, Iowa, and was married May 26, 1880, at Wichita, Kansas, to Frances Friend. The couple made the run here in 1893 and settled on a farm north of Fort Cobb. he was a member of the Christian church.

Survivors include two sons, Cash of Verden, and Leslie of Fort Worth; four daughters, Mrs. Flossie Mason, Fort Cobb, Mrs. Lucy Hartshorn, Anadarko, and Mrs. Clem Edwards and Mrs. Ruth Edwards, Carnegie; 13 grandchildren including Ralph Edwards, Carnegie, 17 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
