E.H. "Hill" Kirk

Funeral services for E.H. "Hill" Kirk, 84, a farmer-stockman of Fort Cobb, were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 5 at the First Baptist church in Fort Cobb. Rev. Leroy Meyers of Houston, Texas, officiated with Rev. Don Sebastian,local pastor, Rev. J.C. Crabbe of Minco, and Rev. George Stauffer of Chattanooga, assisting. Burial was in the Fort Cobb cemetery.

Kirk died Sunday night, November 2, in Grady County Memorial Hospital at Chickasha. He had been a patient there since October 2 when he suffered a stroke.

Kirk was born January 27, 1891 at Sugar Grove, Va. He came to Oklahoma with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. J.J. Kirk in 1903 and settled near Mangum. He moved to Fort Cobb in 1919 and had lived there since.

He was married to Pearle Roddy August 24, 1926 in the First Baptist church in Oklahoma City.

He was a member of the First Baptist church at Fort Cobb 55 years, a deacon in the church 48 years, and a teacher of the Men's Bible Class 20 years. He was a veteran of World War I, joining in 1917 and served overseas in France. He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters and two brothers.

Pallbearers were Paul E. Knauss, William Saunders, Dale Repp, Emils Crowell and Ronnie Hardesty of Fort Cobb and Dwayne High of Walters. Honorary bearers were Kirk's Sunday School Class, Leonard Millwee, Paul Knauss, Charley Knauss, Burl Knauss, and Kelsey Daughterty of Fort Cobb, Homer High of Walters and Raymond Smart of Burkburnett, Texas.

Survivors include his wife of the home; a niece, Roberta Lee High and husband, Doyle and children, Holli and Kirk of Haskell, Texas; a nephew, Dr. Robert D. Williams of New York City; four sisters, Mrs. Ida Thomas of Carnegie, Mrs. Mayme Burger of Shawnee, Mrs. Edith Clinger of Ordway, Colo., and Mrs. Alma Moore of Blacksburg, Va.
