Rosie Lee [Davis] Corey Godwin

Miss Rosie Davis was born February 23rd, 1876 at Survisville, Tenn. in Sevior County; and departed this life at the family home 2 1/2 miles S.W. of Fort Cobb June 25th, 1933 at the age of 57 years, 4 months and 2 days.

In 1884 she was married to Walter Corey and to this union one child was born, Lonie Corey of Fort Cobb. November 5th, 1903 she was married to Jewell Godwin, and to this union three children were born, the eldest dying in infancy.

She leaves her husband, Jewell Godwin; two sons, Lonnie and Ollie; one daughter, Mrs. Zora Halsey and an adopted daughter, Genivie. Six grandchildren, her mother, Mrs. Mary Davis of Carnegie, three sisters, Mrs. Betty Smedley, Amarillo, Texas, Mrs. Margaret Sutton, Carnegie, Mrs. Pearl Woodward, Los Angeles, Calif. One brother, Wylie Davis, of Carnegie.

The father and two brothers have preceded her in death.

At the age of sixteen years she united with the Methodist church; and later joined the Christian church. Mrs. Godwin has lived a devoted Christian life; a wonderful neighbor, friend to all and ready always to minister to her neighbors need.

They have lived near Fort Cobb for a long time. They have a beautiful country home that shows the touch of her handiwork.

Mrs. Godwin has been in ill health for a long time and all possible that could be done was but without avail. She was patient sufferer, always appreciative of every kindness shown her by her neighbors and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Christian Church in Fort Cobb, Monday at 10 a.m. by Rev. Palmer of Apache, with the Harvey Funeral home in charge of the arrangements.
